Subject: Hemi or R/T?
IP: Logged

Message:
According to Dodge, the Hemi will make 345 horses with 365 foot pounds. The 5.9 R/T will make 250 horses with 295 foot pounds. And since I want to upgrade to the biggest engine with the most power, I am going to the Hemi. But I heard that the 5.9 will make more power than the Hemi with a simple computer chip upgrade. Is this fact or crap? Thanks for the input.

in the Ram the HEMI is marked to make 345 hp and 375 tq

the 5.9 in the R/T is marked at 250 hp and 345 tq

a bone stock Ram dyno's around 250 hp and 300 tq while a stock R/T dyno's around 200 hp and 300 tq (rear wheel numbers)

that's only what i have witnessed. I have even seen some slightly modded 5.9's dyno more than a HEMI in the torque catagory.

Thanks for the correct numbers Intense. There are a lot of hyped up numbers floating around both of these engines, and it's hard to get the real numbers. Thats interesting about the torque with the 5.9. Do you have any personal suggestions?

not as good as i want... but good enough with stock exhaust manifolds.

I am in the middle of milling the heads, porting em a little (gasket match.. castings.. etc) and building headers. Gonna dyno it again after that and post the results (before and after)
