Subject: 93 brake, trn signal issues IP: Logged
Message: I have a 93 Dakota, V6, pretty bare bones with not a lot of electrical stuff on it.
Recently my turn signals stopped working, a few days later i was informed my brake lights were out as well, i imagine they might be relatd.
rear bulbs are ok, i dont know which fuse it is so i pulled them all and they looked ok, brake switch is getting 12v and is functioning normally. (after i pulled all the fuses and worked on it all day long i was rewarded with the ABS and brake light in the dash staying on. how do i turn them off or disable them? the ABS does not function)
any suggestions?
Also, where can i get a wiring diagram for it? i hear the haynes and chiltons manuals are worthless for this vehicle. Again, any help?

Message: Have you checked your flasher for the turn signals. They can go all of a sudden, they are cheap to replace. I have a haynes manual for my 88 and the wiring diagram is excellent.

Message: If loss of action - check wiring harness from
underhood ( fusebox/dist.panel ) back to the
firewall - find a splice of 3 or 4 wires
redo it - get a good quality joiner , or solder
and tape.

Message: I will pick up a new flasher relay on the way home today, its worth a try and its easy.
As far as the underhood harness goes, which relay does that plug into? None of the relays are labeled as such, but there is a blue, round, two plug relay under the dash labeled "turn signal".
I know the wires you speak of i traced them from the back up to the engine compartment where they dive into a huge wad of wires that is all taped together.
Do you guys know which fuse goes to the brake lights or turn signals? Id like to see if i am getting 12v at the fuse.

Message: Get a falshlight and look at your fuse box. Each fuse should have a lable under it as to what it is for. If not look in your manual it will have it there.
