I don't know who makes it, but it comes in a black spray can and it's called "premium steam".

I think one often used engine cleaner is Auto RX... Instead of washing the oil and lubricants off of the surfaces along with the grime like most "diesel fuel smelling" flushes it uses the oil as a carrier through the motor and kinda turns the oil into a cleaner to clean surfaces and grime out of passageways and the whole motor in general... I think Amsoil even recommends using this to clean out the engine before switching over to their oil now as well...
Another cleaner and protector of the longevity of the parts would of course be 100% synthetic oils to begine with, but if you want to just clean, the Auto RX is a great product...

I have personally used this a couple of times myself and took off the valve covers before and after just to see if it had worked since it does tend to cost a little bit of pretty penny and I can honestly say that it did exactly what it advertised...

It depends really
but for carbon removal in the engine
u run it up to temp and trickle water down the throttle body while engine is running and actuating throttle so as to not stall
I had some cough out black like a diesel for as long as i did the treatment and cloud out the street
But this only happened in vehicles poorly tuned for long periods of time
usually a well tuned one will blow a little bit if any and be good after 1 cup of water

are you talking about internal cleaning or external cleaning? External cleaning is best done with a spray bottle of simple green or some other orange/pine type cleaner. Keep the water and cleaners away from electronics as much as possible. Rinse carefully, and dont use a power washer unless you are very accurate with your spray. You can really bugger up the ignition etc if you are not careful (there is a post recently about that subject). I like to use a bucket of water, a degreaser like Orange Crap(?) and muscle. Paper towles to sop up the pooled water when done. I then use a rubber conditioner like "the tannery" on the rubber to keep them looking clean and new and supple (mmmm supple)

He may be asking about engine degreaser/cleaners for the outside of the engine, in that case I've used that purple power stuff diluted 2:1. It's very harsh to aluminum if you let it sit though. The gunk "engine brite" works well but isn't as cheap.
To clean the internal engine components you can do as stated earlier and use one of those "flushes" which are basically kerosene, or you can pour in a quart of ATF the day before you change your oil. The later method is probably a better idea because if you don't get it all out it's not as damaging to your engine as fuel oil.

you can get it at pep boys, strauss, wal mart, etc. Castrol makes the exact same thing which is called Super Clean. It's good stuff, you can use it for everything and it's so strong you almost never use it straight. I just put it in an old spray bottle with some water.

Purple Power is the sheet man... i used it on my motor and cleaned it up very well. I usually put some in a squirt bottle and soak whatever needs cleaning for about an hour. Then i hose it off with a high pressure hose... then repeat.

I go to a carwash and use the engine presoak and let that sit while I wash the rest of my tuck, then wash the motor. Comes out clean everytime. The carwash I go to has a low presure setting to use just to clean the motor. If your carwash does not have this you need to watch what your doing when using a high presure wash, avoid areas where there is electronics(distributor,computer ect) or you may have to push your truck home.

Gunk its been around for years and is made from distillates, meaning it disolves stuff the water based stuff you guys are recommending won't touch.
