Message: I noticed the Westin Safari Bar on the front of your truck. It's really nice. I have a 02 QC 4X4 and was wanting to get one. Couple questions for you. What price should I expect to pay for one? Do they come in chrome or Stainless Steel? When mounting the lights on it how did you run the wire? Where did you mount the switch for the lights? I was thinking of putting it under the HVAC switches in the cab. Thanks in advance..

Message: Well, I have one also. To answer a few questions.
Yes they are avail in chrome (dont think Stainless steel)
price about 125 for bar and mounting kit(for black pwdr coat)
Wires route through engine comp. and through a grommit in the firewall
i mounted the switch under the steering wheel next to the hood release
good luck

Message: DK,
Thanks, I got mine new off eBay for $90 including the mounting kit. They come in black powdercoat (5yr. warranty) or chrome over stainless (lifetime warranty) You have to watch when pricing this bar because some vendors sell the bar and the mounting kit together as a kit. Others sell them separately to gouge you on the price. I took a quick look and this is about the cheapest you'll find with free shipping:
Westin Safari Bar
Sorry, I cheated and mounted the lights without wiring them up. Haven't had time, I gotta work tommorrow and the weather's supposed to be crappy on Sunday so this weekend's probably shot. I was thinking of drilling a small hole behind each tab where the lights mount and fishing the wires through the bar itself. Then I'd get some black silicone and seal up the holes for a 'stealth' install with black wire loom running from the lights to the bar. I don't like to leave crap hanging all over the place. That sounds like a good spot to mount the switches, I've heard that others have put theirs in the console also. Sorry that I wasn't able to help much.
BTW, if you do get the bar, the mounting plates went on real easy for me. I just loosened the 4 bolts on each side of the bumper and slid the plates into position from under the valence, a piece of cake, IMO. They tell you to drop the valence in the directions but it's not neccessary. I even installed an extra 1/2" bolt on either side where the third cutout is on the mounting plate for the older trucks.

Message: Thanks for the info guys. I just stopped at a place that sells the Westin. They quoted me 430.00 canadian dollars, so I'm figurn' that's about 280.00 or so american. I didn't ask on the black powder coat. This is for the S.S. Chrome model. Weird that this doesn't come with holes factory drilled for the wiring for the lights. I wouldn't want the wire hanging all over either. IMHO, this is the nicest one I have found so far for some offroad lights. All the other ones I looked at are to big and square looking. One thing that was mentioned to me was that this comes in 2" diameter pipe. When I put the ss side steps on they are 3" you guys notice a big difference? I noticed that westin also has one called the BULL bar wich comes in 3". Anyone seen one of these mounted on a Dakota yet? Like to see what it looks like too. Thanks for all the help.

Message: I think the Bull Bars are only for the full sized trucks.
The link that I had on my previous post had the chromed stainless for $220 with free shipping and they have a currency rate link on their homepage so they must ship to Canada. Just trying to save you some cash.
Don't think I'd drill through the chromed stainless though, JMHO.
I have the 3" stainless nerf bars on my truck, no big deal IMO.
If you want I'll post a link to some pics so you can see for yourself...
