Subject: Pearl coat emergency - HELP!
IP: Logged

Message:
Last night I had a panic attack when I walked around to the passenger rear of my 04 Dak CC Sport plus(pearlcoat patriot blue)and discovered that I had driven through white paint!
The paint was sprayed by the tire fore and aft on the sides of the truck across the flaring and painted surface around my tire well. The tire itself has streaks of paint all over it as well.
Are there any body shop guys out there who can recommend something to safely remove the paint without damaging my truck's pearl coat?
Thanks,
Matt Buckner

Saw a recent post on the General section with a couple of good ideas. WD40 was one.

This is similar to the problem of getting overspray from a spraypaint project on your truck. I've been told that a clay bar kit will remove paint flecks from your finish without harming your clear coat.

a clay bar might work, but make sure you get the right grade of clay, use soapy water or some kind of detailing lubricant. you could also buff off the paint spots if you know what your doing, or take it to a pro detailer. i have also used lacqure thinner, but be carefull if you go that rout. i have never heard of wd40 being used, but you never know until you try it your self. what ever you do, get a paint sealant and wax your truck after your done. this will help if something happens again

The only product that will work is called "goof off" I've used it before and it saved my paint!!
