Message: I have a Leer LoRider on my truck! The colors match perfectly, there are no permanent bolts or anything and it can be put on and removed with two people in about 3min. Improves gas milage by a couple miles per gal. also. It's really a sweet deal but you end up giving about $800 for it. Maybe that will help? I will try to put some pics up but first I have to get my camera working!

Message: I really like my Gaylords lid:

When I was looking I also liked the Stockland and Fibernetics. But I never saw them in place. One caution about the Gaylords. The shop that put the 1st one on had a problem. On the QC the bed flares into the cab. The lid also has this flare. When they mounted the 1st cover they set the shocks so that the lid opened too far. When opening this rotated the "ears" at the front down against the side of the bed. In less than a week a stress crack developed. Gaylords replaced the lid free and now the shock are set so the lid opens less. There is no binding on the side and no problems now.
Good luck!

Message: I just had an A.R.E. LS II hard tonneau cover put on. $700 Painted, installed, and with tax included. I love it. It has the same contour as the hood does. Works great. I have pics on my website, may take a minute or two to load.

Message: Went to buy a CoverMaster and on the way saw a Leer dealer. Stopped and took a look at the Leer 700 series fiberglass tonneau w/ carpet headliner, painted to match factory color, and a quick release system from the rails. Just pull the cotter pins and lift off the truck. Cost is around $700 installed. Mine will be installed in 2 weeks.

Message: I puchased a Stockland fiberglass tonnau cover for about $800 earlier this year and it took them three tries to get the color to match. It took a 3 month process of repeated shipping and painting before I even considered the color satisfying. The dealer told me that the Stockland tries their best to make the $100 painjob look it's best. I have the unusual amber fire color which they were able to get close to after I sent my gas cap cover to the company for scanning the perfect match. The dealers also told me that there is no such thing as an exact color for your tonnau cover; I still do not believe it. They say that the paint on a fiberglass surface will look different from the same paint used on a metal surface. Another thing, when I had the cover installed, I wasn't aware that they would have to drill holes in my truck. After a few weeks you will begin noticing rust right around the drillings. I just thought I'd share this to give you more ideas on your search. Good luck!

Message: Ben, sounds like you had a rough experience. I couldn't have been happier about how things went with the ARE cover. The take the exact paint code right off the truck so you are guarenteed of an exact match. Also, their cover is NO DRILL, it is held on by clamps so you can take it off and put it back on in under 10 minutes. Plus I only paid $690 + Tax. But hey, you never know what you are going to get until you try something!

Message: I regret not owning a clamp-on cover. The dealers at the accessory shop did get the color code off the truck; the result was a brown rather than amber-fire. It was pretty upsetting.

Message: I now have a screwed on covor(Innovations Pro SPort with spoiler)I used to have a clamp on cover. Don't think the clamp on is any better. It sits higher on the bed, and the cover itself rubed through the paint were it sealed up against the bed and tailgate. And when I removesd the rail system to get ready for new cover the rails had actually rubbed through the weather stripping applied underneath and wore through the paint down to the metal worse then the cover itself ever did. I now have small grooves in my bed rails from the rail system of the old clamp on cover. SUr eyou have to drill holes in your bed with some covers, but you can always srpay the holes with rust protectant or touchup aint before applying the cover to keep away rust, and use stainless steel rivets to hold the peices on.

Message: Will silicon based gel be a bad idea to seal up the holes? I heard it will eat up the paint. Is this true?

Message: Just installed a std Gaylord cover. Did it myself. Learned that you got to remove the lip of the plastic bedliner, on the front rail for the lid to fit right. Good color match
