Subject: TYC Tail Lights IP: Logged
Message: I was looking into changing the tail lights on my 04 Dakota. I just wanted mine to look a little different than the usual. While looking, I noticed that alot of the companies put reflectors around the lamp of the light. To me, that looks a little cheesy. Then, I came across TYC. They integrated their reflector within the lamp. Take a look at the TYC lights on ebay (Black, CF, and Chrome).

Chrome TYC Tail Lights:

To me, I think the chrome tail lights are getting a little old. I had a set on my '97 F-150 in early 2001 and now, it just seems dated.
Which do you guys think would look the best with Patriotic Blue? Should I go Black, CF, Chrome (what the heck?), or just leave them alone?
Pricewise, they run from about $120 + Shipping on up.

Message: hey man yeah i like the looks of those tail lights. kind of makes me wish i had seen them before i bought mine. i would go for the carbon fiber or black. i have chrome ones on mine (patriot blue also) and while i think they look good i agree with you about them being dated. seems like everywhere you look you see somebody with them.

Are there ANY stock Honda taillights left?

Message: Just ordered a pair myself off ebay. I have silver paint and went with black. Ordered them from fenderworld yesterday. They have excellent feedback from other customers. I will follow-up when I get them. By far the best looking of all that I have seen to date.

Message: I also bought a set of the carbon fibre lights for my white 02 QC. When I installed them, I found that they stick out about 1/4" further then they should.
Anyone else have this problem? Note that they do mount into the stock holes, and the pins are fully seated in the rubber grommet, but the lights stick out far enough on the outside curve, that I can see into the tail light well.

Message: Just put my pair on a couple of weeks ago. Bought the blacks ones. Looks great with the silver paint!! I ran into the same problem of a gap on the drivers side as explained by Lurkin. My solution was to get a rubber hammer and hit the lower peg hole where the light attaches (bending it toward the front a little). I also had to get a razor blade and trim the sharp edge off the very top of the light where it contacts the bed of the truck (this seemed to be a tight spot where it would kinda "rock" while setting it). After all this I was able to close the gap that came very close to matching the other light. Hope this helps. Dispite this little problem I would still have gone with these TYC lights.

Message: I did the Flack03 mod, only with a deadblow hammer :-). Closed up the gap reasonably well. I wish it were a bit closer, but oh well.
Lights look pretty good. My youngest son said he liked 'em cuz they looked like rockets...

Message: I don't have a pic, or a place to post one, but I do have the carbon TYCs on a white 02 QC AWD Sport. I like the carbons as they are between the white of the truck and the black of the odd trim pieces that abound the exterior. As I am not a chrome fan, and I thought that the black may be too much, I picked the carbons.
What I have found though, is that the stop and backup light sections of the tails (the parts that make it look different) actually stick out from the truck's lines a bit more then I thought.
Love the looks from a distance, but from close up and looking at it from the side, the light sections stick out some. See "rockets" comment above.
Note that I still like the lights more then the APCs or stockers, but the dimention it adds to the tails could be toned down a bit more for me to say that they are perfect.
If you are looking for a smooth line on the tails, these are not the ones...

Message: Right on the money Lurkin...why o why could they not round that edge? Maybe next year huh? Got the black myself, they are still pretty sweet. If I had white I would definatly go with the carbon.
