Subject: I need grille inserts? IP: Logged
Message: 98 R/T
What are my options...I don't want to spend much.
I have seen the cheap "gutter guard" on Ebay. Does it work, is it worth a crap?

Message: Dont bother, it is junk and a pain. Check out the group buy on SS grilles under "Group Buys". They are shipping out as you order and $140 shipped is a good price. I ordered mine yesterday.

Message: $149 is damn good.
Is that only for the brushed aluminum or does that deal go for the chrome finish also?

Message: Gutter Guard is easy to work with. just paint it over with chrome and a clear coat. Don't waste $150, just spend $10-15.

Message: to pop the hood, you need that extended latch.
but in alot of the grills i've seen, there isnt any room for your hand to pull the latch....i dont know what tha hell i'm talking about.

Message: I currently have the Street Scenes grill inserts installed and it comes with a hood latch relocation kit, which when installed makes it so that you put your fingers under the bottom of the grill shell and there is a new lever to pull down on to open the hood.

I JUST finished mine today. I coated them with 4 coats of "Plasticoat" and sprayed them black to match instead of the chrome they come manufactured out of. You'll have some throwing of tools, cursing and other tense moments but once you get them in.. They look awesome. I did the bottom valance about 6 months ago and couldn't get myself to cut out the plastic inserts that come stock on the top. Once I did and spent part of the day installing them. It looks great.
One tip- Start from the bottom and secure them after you are sure they line up. The Top screws are a b*tch, and you will have to bend and push quite a bit but once you get the stock nut on, crank on it with your socket wrench and make sure it is on there before proceeding to the next.
Good Luck. You won't find better pics of install info on these anywhere than the site I mentioned!
