Subject: gauge overlay instal... IP: Logged
Message: hey tommorow or thursday i'm going to make and install some custom gauge pannel overlays. anyway how hard is it to get the needles off the gauge? and when i pop them off is there anyway i can screw up puting them back on where they will be out a bit like to far left or right?
i think my plan will look good and i will post pics when done but the only thing that i may have trouble with is the needle removel.
thanks for any input

Message: Making your own overlay? Let me know how you do that. Pulling needles is easy, use a fork or golf divot tool, slide under needle and pop off. They are a bit hard to get back on in the exact position, don't press them on too hard.

Message: If you have a digital camera, take a pic of your gauges when the engine is running (perferably when engine is cold so you will be consistat). then when you're ready to install the needles, use the pic as a guide to place them at the correct places... It worked for me. At the very least it will get you close.

Message: ok i tryed removing the speedometer needle and it woundn't budge so i tryed a little harder and it f*ckin broke. long story short now in the process of ordering a new speedometer. oh for the record the fork idea didn't work well because the fork bent so either theres some special trick i'm not doing or it was jambed on there pretty good.
so this idea is on hold until i figure out how to get the needles off with out breaking the gauge.

Message: also if you take the needles off you can sand the orange off the back of them and paint them any color, like blue for example and they will glow blue at night and look blue during the day, looks pretty good imo
