Subject: Euros or blackouts? IP: Logged
Message: Hey guys, I've got an `03 Dakota Quad Cab Sport Plus 4x4 in Atlantic Blue. I wanted to get blackouts or euros on it, but I wasn't sure what combination to get. I thought my truck was to light in color for euros, but I saw a Dakota in the same color and I liked how it looked. But I also like how the blackouts on the front with the 3-piece wind deflector looked.
So I was wondering what you guys think. Should I get euros or blackouts all around? What about euros on the back, and blackouts with the wind deflector on the front? Do you guys think that would look dumb?
Let me now what you think!
Thanks,
Krash_IO

Message: I smoked my factory tail lights. They aren't black, but are darker than factory. Its makes them more of a deep maroon color than a bright red. I used VHT Tail shades to do it, and they look good on my black dakota. I need to clear coat them to make them shine more, but that will wait until it warms up outside.

Message: I have the exact same truck but an 04. I had blackouts on my Ranger. The look got old after awhile so I wanted something different and went for Euros this time. I think they look better on the relatively light Atlantic Blue color, whereas the blackouts would compliment darker colors better. I'm very pleased with the look of my Euros, plus it's not something someone can just walk up and rip off the truck and walk away with very easily.
IMHO Euros are good for red, white, silver, and the lighter blue Dakotas, whereas blackouts are better on most of the other colors.

Message: I think the blackouts look good on anything. Personally tired of all the euro styling on everything these days. What happened to good old American Musclecar styling? When I have enough cash, my Dakota is going to be done musclecar style.

Message: The only problem i have with my smoked taillights is at night when your backing up, you can't see behind you. From outside you can easily see the white back up's but when you need the light its not there. So i want carbon fiber euro's just so i can see what i'm about to back over again. I have pics of my Gen III if you want to see what they look like.

Message: You can't pull them off. If you really wanted to get them off, you pretty much can't. I've had them on my truck for about a year now with rain, snow, ice, mud, ...you can't pull them off. Its pretty frigen' impossible.

Message: MAybe they attatch differently depending on the vehicles. I know on my Ranger it took me about 5 seconds to pull each of the fronts off for night driving. There was no screws or double sided tape, they just clipped onto a ridge in the backs of the lights.

Message: I like what you did with your taillights Adam, you’re right I’ve never seen them.
I was wondering what you guys thought about having blackouts on the front and euros on the back. I saw a Durango with a 3 piece wind deflector and blackouts on the front. It looked nice because the blackouts and wind deflectors all flushed together. But I wanted euros on the back. Euros aren’t as easy to steal and blackouts are illegal here.
So you guys think it would look funny?

Message: You sure Euros are even legal on the front? A cop stopped me and made me take them off in MD, said they were against state law.
