Subject: Power Window / Door Lock kit IP: Logged
Message: I have a 99 Club Cab Dak with manual windows and locks. I want to convert to power windows and remote power locks. I'm pretty sure I'll have a shop do the power locks, since I'll probably get an alarm system put in.
To save some money however, I believe I can do the power windows myself. WHICH SWITCHES MATCH THE VEHICLE THE BEST? Spal has a bunch of switch kits and I can't tell which ones will look most stock...so if you got this kit, I could use your feedback
Thanks
Feel free to make any suggestions regarding my plan.

Message: Spend the extra money and get an electric life kit. They come with the power window cranks that replace the manual cranks. The kit is a total swap that are of great quality. For more info go to www.electric-life.com. As for the power locks, you could buy a kit for about $30.

Message: The Spal kit is a bolt on...nice and easy. The other thing I like about it is it has an emergency handle in case of power failure (basically a handle you plug into the manual handle port and you can use the windows manually.
However, the Colibri Universal kit seems to be the same thing....although I didn't see reference to any emergency handle.
I'll tell ya, if the Spal Deluxe universal kit has a warranty like the Colibri kit, it's a no brainer. Otherwise the Colibri Universal kit offers a lifetime warrenty on the motor and drive mechanism...that might sway me :-)
The only other thing is that the Colibri states that in most case it meets the same motor speed as the OEM, the SPal Deluxe kit reads that it exceeds the OEM speed in most cases....suggesting it has a stronger motor.

Message: ....turns out the Spal kit offers a 1.5yr full warranty....whereas the colibri kit offers lifetime on the motor and drive mechanism.
I'm thinking the colibri is the way to go. Who cares about the emergency handle. Since these universal kits fit over existing crank hardward...I'll just save my handles :-)
...plus, the Colibri kit comes with switches...the Spal kit didn't.
Here's the link for the 2 incase your interested:
Colibri Universal Kit Runs for about $140 w/switches
Spal Deluxe Universal Kit Runs for about $125 w/o switches

Just call them and tell them the parts you want and do it your self. You just need to find a cap for the holes where the cranks were. Good Luck.
