Message: I used to have a 97 and I'm pretty sure the piece you're talking about just pops out of the retaining clips.

Message: I took it off tonight. all you have to do is pull kinda hard and it just pops off then just work your way around it to get all the clips loose and its off. i got it painted red and it looks real nice.

Message: Watch those clips going back in, they bend if forced the wrong way. I've taken mine apart about 20 times now and its happened to me a few times.

Message: Yup, the black part of the dash pops in and out easily....I find it easier if you tilt the steering wheel down and the "shifter" lowered in neutral.

Thanks.

Message: I went to autozone for the paint. they had a special kind of paint for dashboards but they didn't have the color of red that i wanted. so i bought krylon paint called fusion or somethin. its made just for plastic and you don't have to sand or prime. it sticks to the plastic nicely and it looks real good

Message: Hey guys just surfing a little. I have done a majority of my interior the way you are asking about. All you need to do is scuff up the surface with a high # paper and then paint with what ever spraypaint you choose. I have noticed that the more and lighter coats of paint you put on the better the result if you let it dry completely between each one. Also for added protection I always spray 4-5 coats of clear laquer over the parts - hope this helps

Message: if you look at any mini truck'n, truck'n, and or sport truck magazine and if it's not leather it is probably tweed. They have it in every color. the price is between $10.00-$13.00 per yard. you get it at a place that sells upholstry. you use their glue or contact cement. IT is fairly easy.

Message: I painted mine, along with the door handle shells, a dark blue, almost purple, so that it matches the decals on the side of my truck. It also matches nicely with the blue and black leather seats with R/T embroidered in yellow on the head rest (same goes for the door panels). Next will be blue racing stripes(Dodge Style).
