Subject: tried removing my pin stripe... failure IP: Logged
Message: hey
today i tried removing my pin stripe on my 93 dakota since it has already started to peel away.. well i used a hair dryer and i started to peel it off.. it came off nicely, but after about 2 inches i realized that there is a ridge from where the stripe was and where the regular surface was... its not adhesive or anything. its like the stripe was put on before the clear coat or sumthing, because there is a "valley" where the stripe was.. any suggestions?

Message: I did the same thing with my 96 when I had it and didn't see no valley! It might have been painted and then the stripe was put on too fast and not letting the clear cure long enough!
The problem with mine was the color was lighter under the stripe! Think its there to stay bro!

Message: Get some good polish, like Maquires Deep Cristal, and buff it out. Or take it to you local body shop, or detail shop.

Message: yeah there's an idea, try buffing it out. Maybe if you do it enough, you'll wear out the good surface until it matches what was underneath the pinstripe.
If you do need to have it painted, it shouldn't cost more then a hundred bucks or so to have it matched and sprayed
