Subject: Which fiberglass lid? IP: Logged
Message: Hi everybody, I'm looking to buy a fibergass lid for my dakota, I went to SubCaps in Mahwah, NJ and saw a really nice ARE lid for 750. I liked it a lot, but I keep hearing about the checkmate so I checked it out, and I also like the look of the flush, but I have also head problems of painting and construction from other posts. What do you think? Any other suggestions would be appreciated. THanks

Message: As ive said in other posts i like the gaylords the best, they are quite expensive though but it is over the rail so there is no chance of leakage, and it is almost flush. its about 900 + paint though. there is also a stockland one out there that is similar also over the rail and slim

Message: I have owned are lids on the last three trucks i've owned they are a quality product with a great dupont paint finish. I have never had any problems with the finish, construction, or leakage. And I would not hesitate to buy another one in two years when they finaly put the new hemi into our dakotas.....

Message: Like dbbaker, I love my ARE lid. I have had it on for about a year, and it still looks great. The paint is great. I have had no problems with leaking. I drove through an utter downpour for about 30 minutes yesterday and the clothing I had in the back didn't even have a drop of water on it. Go with the ARE, you won't be disappointed.

Message: I just bought the ARE LSII in intense blue. It looks great. THanks for the advice. I like how the the hood lines match up on the cap. I just got my dakota about a month ago. I'm only eighteen so I've been driving only one year. I havent been to the car shows, but I have gone to the Octoberfest!! THat was fun. It is stock in the engine and I just ordered altezza tail tight and clear corners from matrix racing. Soon I will buy an ss speed grille and a K&N. Slowly but surely it is getting sicker.

Message: Definitely get the CheckMate. I went to high school right across the street from them and I know the owner. My 97 Dak was in his ad in the national mags for awhile. I got another one on my 99 Dak. Looks SWEET when painted. I HAVE PICS. I worked for an ARE dealer, the ARE's sell for $900+, and everyone wanted one of mine that saw it. Pi$$ed my boss off. Three summ'in for the CheckMate. Email me for pics

Message: I've been moding since i was 17 too. I'm only 18 now, but very soon to be 19. i've only had my truck for about 1 1/2 years now. Lookin good so far.
Hey CMeFly,
Is (or was)your truck the red one in the ad? I'm thinking of a red one with a stillen bumper cover, runnings boards, and a wail tail. Is that you?
Oh yeah. I have a checkmate cover. Looks great flush, and never had any problems. my 2 cents.

Message: I just purchased one. From Leer, they recently redesigned them. Looks real good! Has the same shape as the front of the truck, you know the hood headlight deal known only to Dodge(except the crappy looking new ram). Oh yeah did I mention that when they were installing it, they drilled a hole right through the damn thing. So now I have to wait 2 more weeks to get a new one.
Painted/Installed/shipping= $850
