Message: Is anybody elses front upper bumper rusting like mine is??? I have had mine painted three times (warranty) and it's still rusting!!! Are the new Dakota's like the new Durango's and have all plastic? How much are they?
What is a nice aftermarket bumper cover that will look good on a 4x4? How much do they usually run?
I would like a new one because I this looks like CRAP!!!!

Message: My front bumper is chipped too, but not rusting. My Mopar bushguard is chipping and rusting. I have to take it to the dealer to get it fixed. This is BS!!!
Here's a pic of my bushguard (1yrs old) you can see where I touched up all the spots and now there's even more.
Later,
Anthony

Message: I have 2 Daks a 97, 01. The 97 bumper rusted quickly and was replaced. The 2nd one rusted as well and was repainted. I have seen lots of 97 and up Daks with rusted bumpers. The 01 shows no sign of rust but it only has 4300 miles on it. This problem is related closely to the early 70 Mopar Auto's. In the early 70's they used a high percent of recycled metal having a high acid content. This may be the problem here or cost savings measures by some engineer. The use of recycled metal was at an all time high 1998 thru January 2001

Message: Oh Yes, just a suggestion, for those of you with this problem try to find a powder coater. You will need to strip it first(sand blasting works well). The iron Phospate conversion coating will give you great rust protection.
