What is the brand of your bed cover? Do you know if it is made for a QC? Price?

The tonneau is the Checkmate FX tonneau made by Checker Products. It's the cheapest hard tonneau on the market, $329 plus shipping for a regular/club cab. They have one for the QC, I think it's $20 less. Not the highest quality cover out there but I think it's a really good bang for the buck.

I have a list of all my bolt-ons plus links to all sorts of manufacturers on my website.

Sincity,
I have been looking into getting the Checkmate FX for the past few weeks. I didn't know if yours was one of those or not. What problems have you found with this cover? You stated that it wasn't the best of quality. I am considering getting one with carpet underneath, quick release hinges, etc. I am also considering getting there carpet bedliner. Do you have any input on this item? Thanks.

The Checkmate covers are not completely gel coated - there's quite a bit of heavy texture from the fiberglass strands. I know some people have gone out and sanded them a bit then primered the hell out of them to flatten this out, I didn't bother. The texture on my cover is pretty noticeable if you're within 15 feet, but it's not so bad that the cover isn't usable or unattractive.

The tonneau is just over an inch thick. It's hard enough that I could set something that weighed a few pounds on it, but I wouldn't want to have my kids stand on it like they did with my previous thick cover. I do like the weight - it's heavy enough that you know it's a hard cover, but easy for one person to remove/install.

The trim that Checkmate gives you to weatherseal the cover is of good quality, but you have to install it yourself and it only fits about 5/8ths of the width of the edge - I have one spot where I didn't line it up perfectly straight and it droops down inside of the bed and doesn't seal right. I'm probably going to rip off the factory trim and use some full-width stuff I used on my previous tonneau.

I do like the flush appearance, and other than what's above it seems like a good tonneau. In the hot/dry climate here in Vegas I'll never test its waterproofing much, and I don't leave anything valuable inside of it on a regular basis, so it was a good choice for me.

Thanks. I guess I look into them still yet. I wish I had some info on their carpet bedliner, so I would know if I should get it or not.

Troy: The bottom of the Checkmate tonneau is lightly gelcoated white - it is pretty smooth and doesn't look too bad. If you're going to get a Bedrug for the bottom of your bed then it might look pretty good to have it up top as well.

mike2 I got my billet grille from Mr. Grille. Their website is www.wee1.com, but he auctions them regularly on E-Bay for less than he charges on the website. I have pictures and links to many billet grilles on my website.
