Message: I have a few questions about raised suspensions...
What type of impact do they have on fuel efficiency (mpg) and also on general tire wear?
I am thinking about getting one on my 2001 CC but need to get more information about it first.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I should look for a resource?
Any links that can get me started?
Any "how-to" sites?
Thanks guys,
tkurk

Message: Hey TKURK,
Looks like your a new guy to our world so i'll help you out, but for future questions, search past boards, i think this question has been asked a thousand times.
The big factor on whether this question can be answered correctly is the question of whether this is a 4X4 or 4X2.
If 4X4...
One lift company has a lift available right now called truckin suspensions. Their lifts are still a little shaky based on it's first lift victim, but lifts since then have been reported A OK. The lifts are a 4.5", a 6.5". and a 9.5". The 4 and 6 inchers only allow 33" tires unless you do serious cutting or add a body lift. The 9 should clear at least 35"s. The 6.5 seems to be the favorite. Rancho is supposed to come out with a 2.5" kit soon that should be able to clear 33"s with some trimming and torsion bar cranking, but they have been saying the lift will come out for years and never paid up.
If 4X2...
Fabtech offers 3" suspension lift that is highly recommended as far as i've seen and allows clearence of 31" tires, and you can toss a 3" body lift so you can fit 33" rubber.
Any other questions i'd be happy to answer in the morning.

Message: Thanks for the info. That is a good idea to search the past posts. I'm sure I can get a good start there. This is a great resource.
