Subject: 98 SLT 2WD -- 16" tires are rubbing... IP: Logged
Message: My truck: 1998 2WD Dodge Dakota SLT 5.2L/multi-speed auto trans. Factory wheels and tires: 255/60R15 on 15x8 wheels.
I just installed 265/75R16 BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires using some 16x8 wheels from a 2002 Durango. Guess what? Yeap. They rub when I make a tight turn. (Aside: Looks a helluva lot better, though!)
I know about the 2" and 3" lift kits by Fabtech and other body lift kits by Summit Racing; however, before I spend the money on them I wanted to ask if this will fix my problem or add other problems elsewhere. (I remember reading one post by a guy with a '95 Dakota who said his fan rubbed when he did a body lift, and that his tires still rubbed. I want to make sure I don't have something like that happen to me.)
I appreciate any help that I can get off of this board. Also: If these tires are going to rub no matter what I do, someone please just let me know. The 2002 Dakota/Durango doesn't have any different frame shapes than the 1998, does it?

Message: P.S. If it makes any difference, it is the Club Cab. Let me know if you'd like to see pictures. I'll be happy to share.

Message: I'd sure like to see pictures im always ready to see. pics of dakotas. please send some to MConiglio@fbmc-benefits.com.
keep in mind a 95 is a different body style and must be lifted more than a 97+ to clear the same size tire. I have basically the same size tire as you and with some trimming and 2 inch coil spacers I don't rub and with a 3inch body lift I highly doubt you would rub.

Message: I promised everyone some pics. I have tossed together a page with some before and after pics. The pictures were not that great, so you really can't tell the difference. I'd still like a little feedback if anyone knows anything:
