Subject: What size tire do you think I can fit? IP: Logged
Message: Well I've already installed a 3" body lift, cranked the front up 1" and did some trimming on the wheel wells. In the rear I cut 2" from the front and rear on the bottom and rounded it to the top and re-installed the fender flare. In the front I took like 2" off the air dam and trimmed the fender flare and part of the pinch weld and wheel well on the back side.
Now I plan to install a 9.5" suspension lift as soon as I can scrape up the dough. And crank the bars another .5" and add an extra 2" to the rear to gain a total of 14" in the front and 14.5" in the rear. I've seen another dakota with 9 inches of lift on 38's... I'm hoping for 44's.

Message: I think he is talking about the 9.5 made by none other than Truckin Suspension.
No matter which one you plan on, please do some research. Neither are of any quality.

Message: Is the problem the quality of the parts or the fitment of the parts? I researched around about lifts for the dakota but the only ones bigger than 5.5" were the AIM industry's and whiplash lifts but I don't know of anyone that actually has one.

Message: Pretty much both from what I've heard with the Aim lifts...Knobbyman can elaborate further on this one since he's still trying to get his truck fixed over the last 8 months since he installed the lift. They also screwed him over and basically openly admitted it through one of their sales reps named Ian on the threads here. If I remember correctly Whiplash lifts haven't been able to hold an alignment and I believe there's been some question to the quality of their parts as well.

Message: Quality and fitment are both bad, on both of the lifts.
I know personally that Knobbyman is still trying to get things to work properly (Ive been picking him up and dropping him off at the shop to fix his truck).
Ive heard that the Whiplash will not hold an alignment but also is not strong enough to go offroad.
BTW.. what year is your truck? And the guy that had 38's didnt go offroad with his truck. Those tires were to big to allow clearance while offroading.

Message: Well crap this sucks. I guess I'll leave it alone for a while and get my s-10 project running. Then I know where there is a chevy with solid axles I can scoop up. Bust out the welder and put me some leaf springs up front. My truck is a 97 CC btw.

Message: If its a 97 and you want some more lift you can get Rancho's 3" or Tuff Country's 5.5".
Scott is the guy who has the 38's and he had the Tuff Country lift and a 3" body, but no wheeling with that setup.
But good luck with the S-10 project.
