I just got my dakota a week and a half ago and I love it already. I live in galveston tx and go to A&M at Galveston if you already haven't figured that out by the name. Anyway, I already had fun in the rain of tropical storm Fay. Tons of soccer moms not wanting to go through 2" of water is funny, but my dakota tackled 6" of water with no problem. Anyways I have been looking at all of the pages and compiled what looks like a good plan any input would be great. By the way I have a 2000 ext cab 2wd v6.

1. 3" Performance Accessories Body Lift
2. 3" Fabtech Suspension Lift
3. 35x12.5x15 BFGoodrich T/A KO
4. Some grill guard (havent decided yet)
5. Exhaust

I think I also saw that the Fabtech suspension lift doesnt lift a true 3" all the way around, is this true. Any and all input would be great.

P.S. Sorry my message is sooo long.

Wow.. looks like you did some reading. But with a 2wd you won't be able to fit 35's with 6" of lift. 3" lift will put you at stock height as a 4x4 then another 3" will put you 3" above a stock 4x4. You can run 33" tires.

Sounds sweet though.

If you can scrounge up the money I'd try to get a Hanson Enterprise bumper instead of just a grill guard.

If you ever make it up to College Station some weekend I'd like to get some pics of our trucks next to eachother.

on fabtech's website they say that you should be able to fit 32" tires on a 3" fabtech lift so i thought that with a body lift you could fit 35". I am not doing hardly any offroading, just want a good looking truck. Would this work knobbyman? Also email me your phone number because I am going to be in college station not this weekend but the next for the Virginia Tech game. hockey10_56@hotmail.com

Dispite whether you are offroading or not, you really can't run 35's. The only way you could even dream of 35's is probably to go buy bushwacker replacements for the wheel arches your tires are in. That would require lots of cutting and some big bucks(like around $700 bought and installed, but then you SHOULD be able to fit 35's, but it's not an exact science and i don't know anyone who tried. Needless to say, you might have trouble with travel with tires that big and not a lot of space to work with.

Remember, 6" of lift and 33's still require some trimming of the wheel well, so just imagine what 35's will need.

If you really want to go all out...

3" Fabtech lift
3" PA body lift
Aftermarket rims (Fabtech requires new rims of a certain backspacing)
Bushwacker guards
Hanson bumper for strength and room for tires
MAYBE 35's!!!!
Definitley 33's and one badass 2WD!

# is in the mail..

TallQuad have the 3" Fabtech lift and 3" body lift I'm fairly sure he is only able to run 33's but hopefully he'll respond. I haven't seen him online much anymore.

I'm not quite sure where you saw you could use a 32" tire w/ the 3" lift but here is a link to fabtechs webpage

http://www.fabtechmotorsports.com/applications/dodge/dodge2wd97_01dakota.html it says you can run a 31/10.50R15 tire w/15x7 wheels w/3 3/4” BackSpacing w/minor trimming.

the blue truck on the pic of fabtech's website has 32" tires with 15x7 rims with 4" backspacing ...........The rims weren't even available from american eagle , they had to make when I checked couple of months ago , If you go 15x8 you could still fit a 32 but you'll have alot of rubbing on the back of the front fender wells and there's nothing to trim except for the plastic , but after the plastic it'll rub on the metal ..........................15x8 3.25 backspacing ...........And you can go 4" backspacing but the 7" is the only rim by eagle with that backspacing ..............
