Subject: New 3" Lift!! IP: Logged
Message: Hey fellas,
Thought I'd finally post up some pics of my truck. Over the last few weeks, I've put on the 3" PA Lift, and just got 33x12.5 BFMT's on 15x10 AE589 tims (thanks to TallQuad).
Anyway..lemme know what ya think, and thanks to everyone for all the posts and info which helped a lot!

My Install Notes:
1) Shifter knob...forget the welding. Just get a 3" all thread and coupler..Piece-o-cake. In case you're like me and did not know, the top pops off and the shifter knob unscrews easily!
2) Fan Shroud...I did not drop the shroud. Just got pliers and utility knife and went to town trimming back until it was clear. Note to add a little extra for engine tourquing.
3) Front Bumper - directions suck...easy enough to figure it out.
4) Rear Bumper....Measure twice, drill once. very important to take your time and get it all to line up nicely. Mine came out real well, luckily.
5) Wheel Well trimming. with the 15x10's I had to trim a lot. I used TallQuads pics as a starting point for first cuts and to get my tires home. ( I could only turn the steering wheel 180 degrees at first!) Then I went to town with the grinder, hack saw, and utility knife. I was very uneasy at first, but it came out NICE!...well worth it. I still rub on big bumps though. You can not tell unless you are specifically looking for cuts, and they look clean.
6) Torsion Bars - I brought her up 1" by adjusting the torsion bars. Almost necessary with the big rims. Didn't go all the way, but got a 1" boost, and the ride is a little stiffer, but still ok.

Message: JJ - SWEET lookin truck man!
Can I ask how much you paid for the new wheels, as a rough idea. I was thinking of going the same setup. If you have a good online store to use, lemme know..

Message: Got the wheels/Tires Mounted ar Discount Tire for $1163 after taxes chrome valve stems, and security lugz.
I was EXTREMELY happy with my service. Not only did they give me a price comparable to mail order, they were willing to fit me with different combinations to let me get the package that I wanted and would work best, PLUS, they let me work on my truck right in the parkking lot to do the trimming I needed to do to get home.
I highly recommend them...plus you'll be supporting a local business.

Message: OK -I found an identical package here:
http://www.4wheelparts.com/product2.asp?imseqn=1038&occlass=TWD&cat=PAC
for $1,112.95. Free shipping right now too ;-)
Around where I am, we have Tire Warehouse, so I'll probably go there to get the fit right.
Thanks,

Message: I thought it was "Patriot Blue" when I bought it based on the 2001 color selections at the time, but when i was putting on the lift, I saw a sticker under the rear bumper that said "Amethyst". It does have a dark purple look....kind of depends on the light.
Good luck with your lift...post pics when you're done.

Hey, were you on Mill/University on sat. night? I thought I saw your truck so I waived but he didn't really look like you. If not, someone has the same lift/tires as you!

Message: JJ-
Did you have any odd popping noises coming from your 4x4 shifter after your 3inch body install? I was wondering if your way of lengthening your shifter seemed to still be working without any odd noises?
thanks,
brock

Message: I did have a little buzz/rattle sound which I'm pretty sure was just the shaft vibrating against the side of plastic housing. I wiggled it around and it seems to have gone away cause I haven't heard make any noise since.
NOTE: The sifter knob is actually a wierd metric size (1.5x20??) and I couldn't find what I needed so I used 3/8" allthread std threading and just forced it on. Actually worked real good.
