Subject: air bag suspension? IP: Logged
Message: i was looking at getting an air bag suspension kit so i could lift my truck for 4x4 and lower it for highway driving. not to mention it would be badass. is this a stupid idea? ive seen some air bag suspension installations on tv and it seems like it would work as well as a regular suspension lift. i found this:
http://www.streetbeatcustoms.com/Air-Ride/Air-Suspension-Kits/ShockWave-Front-Air-Suspension-Double-Adjustable-System-_-SKW1013DA/554699/
is this gonna let me do what i want to do? or is 4x4 with air bags a bad idea. thanks

Message: If you're planning to install air bags and a Panhard bar (Watts linkage would be better) and ditch the leaf springs, then it'll work just fine.
The air shocks in that link might be too big in diameter for the Dakota 4X4 front suspension.
If you're planning only to replace the current shocks with those air shocks so you can jack it up temporarily for off-road, then you're looking to do damage to the front drive at the wheel u-joints.
