Message: does anyone happen to know what the width of a stock rim on a 96 v8 4x45.2 dak is..15x6 or 15x7?
could you run 31x10.5 tires on them?

Message: The stock wheel is 15X6. The 235/75R15 tire that came on alot of the 4X4's is the widest that is suppose to be on there. However, many people including myself didn't have any problems running the 31X10.15. That was a nice size with the stock suspension, barely fit the truck so it was perfect. Only reason I changed was because I got the itch to go bigger.

Message: There are actually several stock sizes - the 15x6 steel rim (a bit narrow for what you want), the 15x7 alloys with the exposed lug nuts, and the 15x8 alloys that have a cap over the lugnuts. The 15x8" would be ideal.

Message: Actually the biggest wheels available from the factory for '87-'96 dakotas was 15X6. The '97- Dakotas were available with 15X6, 15X7 and 15X8. Then there were 16's and 17's available depending on which trim you had. I had a set of the 15X8's from a '99 Dakota that I installed on my '92. This required alittle shaving of the front caliper banjo bolts.
