Message: Any ideas on where i could find a lift for my 1990 dodge dakota sport with the 3.9 liter 4x4? It has the independent front suspension (not coils). Just a 2-3 in so that i can fit 33 by 1050.
Message: The only lift available for the 87-90 4x4 Dakotas is a body lift. You can get them either 2 of 3 inch for your truck. But a 33” tire will be real tight on a 90. Unless you use a rim with the width and backspace the same as the stock rims, you’ll rub with 31’s and a 3” body lift. I’ve seen people run 31’s with just cranked torsion bars but only on the stock rims. I ran 31’s with a 3” body lift and 15x8 rims with a 3” backspace and I had some slight rubbing on the fenders at the rear edge of the wheel well. It is possible to modify the Trailmaster 4” suspension kit for the 91-96 4x4 Dakota to fit the earlier trucks, I’ve done it myself, but it’s expensive and the longer I run it, the more I question the quality of the Trailmaster suspension kit. For the amount of money that you’re spending, you’re really not getting that durable of a kit.
