Subject: tires and bumps IP: Logged
Message: I have a 3" BL with stock tires and 16" rims. Will going to an oversized tire (taller/wider) help smooth out the harsh bumps I feel on the road in my 03 4x4 clubcab?

Message: What I mean is will bigger tires absorb more of the "sharp" bumps in the road,ie unavoidable potholes.

Message: Yes wider and taller tires will help smooth out the ride a bit. Only because you will have more rubber to disperse the shock of the bumps. If the roads you travel on are rough you should also think about getting some quality shocks. Stock shocks in my opinion suck. With every vehicle I have ever had changed out the shocks on I noticed a huge gain in ride quality. Trailmaster SSV,Rancho, and Black Diamond shocks have all been on my vehicles with a great improvement in ride quality.

Message: they will help as long as you dont increase the load rating on the tire. Tires come with load ratings letters c,d ect. A tire with a higher load rating, for a heavy duty truck, has more plies and a stiffer sidewall therefore transferring more of the roads imperfections to your ass. hope that helps
