Message: i was given a set of 33x12.50s so i cant just not use em, so the truck is going to get some more under it. i am considering a body lift for my 96 4x4 standard cab short box 5 spd. has anybidy done one on this truck? just want to know if all the wires and cables streatched. also, how long does it take? i have a few floor jacks, some people and an engine hoist. am not going to cut my shifters. so any feedback will be helpful, and yes, i have gone thur the archives. thanks, Steve

Message: My '95 is the same as your '96 and the 2 inch body lift went on super easy. I did it by myself. I didn't cut my shifters either, but if you don't you should expect two things:
1) The transfer case shifter knob will just barely fit with the console. To shift the t-case you'll have to fight with it a bit. Not really a problem but something to think about.
2) The tranny shifter boot now binds a bit in 2,4 & reverse. I usually just keep one hand on the shifter to hold it in place until I shift into 1, 3, or 5.
Bad news, though - even with the 2 inch body lift, cranked torsion bars and heavy duty rear springs with a small lift block the biggest tire I can safely fit is a 31 inch. Anything bigger will rub all over.

Message: doug, i solved the 2nd and 4th gear problem today. it takes about 5 minutes. just pull the tranny shifter boot off, and below that is the problem. the bottom boot. take a razor and cut a 3-4 inch circle around the shifter and now the shifter will not pull back out, so you can cruise in 2nd or 4th no problem.
