Message: if you get a body lift on a truck, I know you can't tow anything with the bumper, but what about putting loads in the bed? Can you still cary anything in the back safely without fear of breaking the bolts through the spacers? if you guys know of any other downsides, let me know please.

Message: Why can't you tow from the bumper? It is still attached to the frame, just different holes if you raise it. I tow (light loads) from mine just the same as always. It was never rated that high to begin with (350 tongue, 3,500 draw). If you plan to tow anything of real weight you should have at least a class 3 hitch installed anyway(500 tongue, 5,000 draw).
As far as the bed goes, where the body lift spacers go is exactly where your bed was touching the frame to begin with. So, yes you can still put the same stuff in it, not to exceed 1,000 pounds (1/2 ton). This includes the weight of occupants/ gear in the cab).

Message: You can't tow with the body lift because the bumper has relocating brackets for the bumper. if you didn't raise your bumper with the body when you lifted the truck, you wont have any problems. But if you did, the brackets that relocate the bumper wont be able to stand the stress and your bumper will likely rip off when you tow. So if you are doing it, I would be very careful, have a light foot on the gas and try to avoid hills. Check the brackets for failure.
As far as the load in the bed, I would think that with the added length of the screws, there would be an uncontrolable amount of torque for those screws to take and would probably break under hard breaking. I could be wrong though. That was just my idea.

Message: The bed should be fine. I had an 1987 Toyota years ago. On the way home from an off road adventure I was broadsided by a 10 wheel dump truck full of cement. Totalled the truck. Well the truck had a body lift (Trailmaster I think, with the graphite blocks). The body and bed stayed on the frame secure, even though the frame was in a U shape. I've got pics here if you wish to see.

Message: Scully,
I used the Performance Accessories 2" kit on my Gen II (95'). It didn't have relocation brackets. I simply unbolted the mounting brackets from the frame raised it the needed height and drilled new holes into the frame.
You have a 3" lift maybe? It could very well be different.
You may get away with installing a hidden hitch that would come out right below the new bumper location. It would look and appear as though it was a normal below the bumper hitch. Depending on if you could find a local retailer that had one in stock, they may let you do a fit test to see if it would actually work. With the option of returning it for a refund if it didn't. Good luck!
