Message: Sorry to step on your thread bgrnurs, but 4x4Dak, why did you install a custom front drive shaft? I may have missed this in a previous post since I have MIA from this site for awhile. We have very much the same truck as far as mods except I have 35" Xterrains on 17x10's, I'd like to see some pics of ur Dak.

Message: Shortly after installing the Rancho lift, the rubber boot on the CV joint(rear) of the front driveshaft tore. I could have just replaced the driveshaft with a stock one, but I figured that it would probably just happen again, due to the angle an all. I also thought that this would be a good time to upgrade to a better system. I went for the double cardan(spelling?) joint in the rear and a better slip yoke in the front and it all came with grease joints. I didn't expect to pay as much as I did, I was originally quoted at around $400 for the shaft. But it turns out that no one makes transfer case yokes for our trucks...what a surprise. So they got one that was close and had to machine it down so that it could fit into the seal. The other $200 was for the extra parts and labor. I will get a picture posted soon, I just recently bought a digital camera.

Message: Nice tall Dak, put some more pics on where its brighter out if you could. How did you get the front so much higher than the back? I can't tell if you used the rear lift blocks that came with the Rancho lift, if you did, and the front is still that much higher, then I see why you needed a custom front drive shaft lol.
What size and offset are your rims and how much rubbing do you have, or did you have if you trimmed?
Once you get a few more pics in your album, start a new thread with subject: Quad Cab on 35's. That will get everyones attention!

Message: Thanks,
I took those pictures early in the morning that's probably why it's not that bright. I think that it looks that high in the front because it's up hill on my driveway. Normally it sits level, I have about 7 turns on the torsion bars and I used the the 2" blocks in the back. My rims are 15x8 Eagle Alloys 058's with -30 mm offset or 3 1/4 inches of backspace. I did have to do some trimming on the backside of the front wheels. I also used a sledge hammer on the body so it wouldn't cut up my tires. The only time I notice rubbing now is when I bottom out in a turn.
