Subject: Rear add a leaf ??? vs. 1 inch block IP: Logged
Message: I am in the process of doing a body lift. Waiting for it to arrive aprox 2 weeks but i was wondering if an add a leaf in the rear would be a better idea vs. a 1 inch lift block. I plan on cranking the torsion bars about 2 inches so that would make the front about 1 inch higher than the rear. I have a tandem trailer and usually tow about 3-4 lbs. with the tounge about 200-300 lbs. it only sits about 1 1/2 inches lower when hooked up and the ride is ok loaded but would the add a leaf make the normal driving without a load really harsh. Thanks for any info.

If you want to keep the same ride then go with a lift block. The add-a-leaf will really stiffen your suspension. If you want to be able to tow without as much sag in the back then go with the leafs. The blocks shouldnt effect your ride at all, but the leafs will.
Thanks,
Corey

Message: yes, if you want are adding this because you tow a lot then go with the leaf. But if you use your truck more for offroad then use the block. The leaf will stiffen your suspension a whole hell of a lot. I have used both and I like the blocks much better. They are easier to install too.

Message: Add-a-Leafs.. Fabtech part # FTS203
I have them laying in the back of my truck I planed on installing them already but something came up. This weekend I'll be out of town.. So hopefully the weekend after next I'll be able to tell you guys how the ride really is. If you do pull stuff I'd go w/ the leafs. I think I'm going to end up w/ 1" blocks and add-a-leaf.. but we'll just have to wait and see.

Message: if you're putting on blocks and need new u-bolts, you're gona have to buy them seperately. the bolts that come in a kit with the blocks are round, dak's (gen II, anyways) require square ones. hopefully this'll save someone an extra trip to the store =)

Message: Ok i have a 97 2wd dakota and my rearend is on the top side of the leaf springs. That means if i put 2 inch blocks on it that it will lower it right? I want to raise it instead how can you go about this.
