Message: ok, so i did some research, spent 2 hours reading through the archives, but i'm still undecided/ a bit confused about rims. i have a 3" body lift and currently running 295/75/16(33x12), on stock rims on a 2002 QC. when getting new rims, should i get 16x10 or 16x8? i would like the tires to stick out a bit more than now, not too much, but i'm also worried about too much rubbing. any ideas on backspacing.
any suggestions??
thank you

Message: i think you should go with the 8". the factory bs is something like 5" or 5.5". as long as you get a rim with less backspacing, the tires will stick out a little more. i was looking at doing a lift a month or so back and did a bunch of reading. with 10" wide rims and a 3" bl, it's doable, but not very functional. you'll have to trim a bit more than if you just ran 8's. plus i've read that the truck will only be good for a mall poser. cause you can't get much articulation without rubbing.
do a search for "QuadMan" he's running 15x10's on a 3" bl. he's got some good posts about how that combo limits his offroading.

Message: quadman's rims are 5X10 w/ 3.63" of BS. i have 15X10 w/4.6" of BS. i am quite sure i get the same rubbing as him, but still some. even if you went with an AE589 15X8 you'd get about the same rubbing due to the 3.25" of BS. i don't really get why anyone says that 15X10's are bad and then recommends the 589 in a 15X8, they are within 1" from mount to outer lip, respective.
my recommendation, if you want to wheel hard, stay with anything over 4.5"(15X18) of BS. if you're thinking about getting AE589 15X8, then you may as well ponny up a little more cash and get a set of weld 15X10 rims.

Message: 15x10 with 3" of BS will prolly ripp off the fender on turns and prolly wont articulate. They will stick out almost 2" further than the 15x8 589's with 3.25" of BS.
If you used a 15x10 with maybe 4.5" of BS you will be safer maybe. All that is doing is bringing the tire in towards the Frame more by 1.25".
I dont run custom rims so I am only speaking from my knowledge I have gained with my own rub situation. I have NO rub anywhere any longer and can fully articulate all around. That was my goal. I run stock Rims at 5.5" of BS and have the Rancho lift with new MOOG ball joints. I mention this since it is much tighter with this setup and if you want to run 11.5" and wider then you need to think about rims and BS.
