so i just dropped off my truck at the dealership. a few days ago it developed a squeak in the front end when going over large slow bumps. when i pulled into the dealership the first thing the head cheese said was "hey your truck is lifted, that could be a problem". my response was the standard "how so?". he then went on to tell me my lift and tires(275/75) change the suspension angles and that it can cause extra wear on parts. i asked him to define suspension angles and how they could have been changed. at this point he said he was pressed for time and needed to move on to the next problem(i had a list of them).

the funny thing is i have a 3" body lift on the truck, i couldn't help but chuckle. also, i installed the lift so i know what all went into it, what was changed, what was left stock.

anyways, just out of curiousity, can anyone shed some light on this? i thought he was crazy, but i have been wrong before. is there any validity to his claims? i'm fairly sure there isn't but i thought i would run it past all of you.

He must have thought it was a suspension lift.

no, he knew it was a body lift.

anyways, i already got the truck back(fast huh?). they fixed everything, i'm still in shock. turns out it was a worn sway bar bushing in the front. they were pretty cool about it too.

They tried the same crap here where I live in Cali. I think that at any cost, the dealer will get out of doing work on anything if they can. If it's a warrenty item they will do the job since they get rienbursed by the manufacturer but if there's a chance of the manufacturer reniging on a job, they'll just give an answer of we don't warrenty that item because of a body lift or whatever it may be. You'd be surprised how much work they have to do on vehicles that they get out of because someone modified an item on their truck and has nothing to do with the problem. And also you might want to put on good rubber bushings like say Energy Suspension. Dodge's suck. They last longer with fewer problems plus you can grease them. Just my two cents.

Wouldn't want any other!

well i just took my truck in today to have the alignment done and guess what? the shop told me my ball joints are bad and to take it to the dealership. my tires were feathering a little so i had them rotated. i thought that was the extent to it but when i looked over the tires closer they are wearing all f*cked up. so when i call the dealer(spoke to the same guy as on wednesday), he says the shop doesn't know what they're doing. all i know is my alignment is off and it needs to be fixed. both the dealer and the other shop both say if the joints are bad they whole arm will have to be replaced. if know it can be done by drilling out the rivets but if the dealership want to put new arms on(warrentee) then i'll let them. this is turning into a headache.

You need to take your truck somewhere else if you can. I dont know if you are still on warranty or not, but stay away from dealerships as much as possible.

One day my truck was running real sluggish. I took it to the dealership. They said I needed new injectors, fuel pump, and some other things. Total cost = $954. The mechanic said "...this may or may not fix the problem".

I said screw it, and I took it to a small shop down the road. He spent some time actually diagnosing my problem before making a shotgun approach to fix it. He changed my fuel filter and cleaned out my injectors. Total cost = $125. And my problem was fixed. That is why dealerships can be bad.

You know ian1872 if you plan on putting a Fabtech 3" lift kit on, now would be the time. Unless it's you lower ball joints. The kit comes with upper a-arms and ball joints. Just a thought.

my truck is a 4X4 so the fab tech is out. also, it's under warrentee so that's the only reason i'm even talking to the dealership. i'm trying to get as much millage out of them as i can before it's up. my poor old truck is an '02 with 25k miles on it.
