Message: all it does is take the load from the belt driving the pump and move it to the belt driving the alternator, which in turn powers the electric pump. Think about it! The power to move the water through the block has to come from somewhere.

Message: How much water needs to be circulated on a quick 1/4 mile run? How much heat would build up if you shut it off after you stage?

Message: At low 40F at the end of the last race season, I ran 14.1x and 13.9x with no belt. I would wait at the top of a staging line with motor off until my coolant temp. was between 145 -150F. I would drive around the pit, back up to water's edge, do a short burnout and stage. At the end of the quarter, I would pull off by the timeslip booth and put in the belt. At this stop coolant temp. was reading about 185F.
I've seen a 98 R/T run with no belt at Cecil in MA in low 60F temps. At Cecil you can roll down a small hill to the staging lane without firing up your motor.
With an electric pump you could probably cut close to 2/10s off your ET.

Message: Cecil is in or on outskirts of Rising Sun, MD. My bad, being a Canuk, I'm not up on the abbreviations :-(
