i got a 98 dakota sport and at only 50k km i need a whole new engine.....the pistons are completely gone and such...dont know if it was an act of vandalizim(spelling) or if it was just the truck...after all that its still good in a way!!!! had to drive it bout 1000km because i moved and it took 10l of oil and it ran alright too...i wanna hear ur guys thoughts on it

my thoughts are...... that sucks..........
i am pushing 100k and i run my engine hard all the time, i also give it some serous tlc. maybe if there was an owner before you, they raced it real hard big shot nitrous etc... and never tuned it up or changed the oil.
it just dosen't seem right for an engine to go out at 50k. I mean my brother 98 ranger went out at 60k but hey.... thats a ranger for you.

yeah maybe we did buy it used....i pretty much babied it too...well the occasional time but who doesnt??? but it'll be a while b4 i buy dodge again,when the motor went the dealer didnt help at all in fact he banned us from his store! and it was hte only 1 we had in the town i lived in,well the warenty was up by like a month or 2

we've done all that...we bought a new motor and took the old 1 out already....pistons were shot

I have a 98 sport auto V6 with about 48k on it.
About 1K ago,the transmission began to slip at 4th into OD. Had to replace nearly everything except the housing. This also happened about 2/3 months after the warranty expired. I hate time/mileage warranties. What a load of crap. In the event that this happens to you,don't go to the dealer. It costs more for them just to take it out and put it back in w/out fixing the problem. I went to AAMCO transmissions and still paid alot of money but way cheaper than the dealer.After they fixed it, it drives like the day we bought it.

Did you get any documentation when they looked at it? From what I have read so far I think you could probably go to dodge over this one.

umm im thinkin i got somethin on paper but im not too sure and ive tried goin to dodge but all they said is we cant help u cuz ur warrenty is up and some other bs so we've been on our own
