Message: Wiplash, just to satisfy you, I went and counted the number of bolts and it is 12. Happy? I don't need to count my bolts to figure out what rear axle I have. I've had Mopars for more than 20 years and can tell what rear it is just by looking. Obviously you are dumb as a box of rocks to keep saying that 4.7L didn't come with a 9.25" rear. The reason not many people jump at the opportunity to tell you are wrong is because they don't want to waste their time with someone that is totally ignorant about the Dakota. I'm done now too!
Have a nice Mopar day.

Message: Whiplash - got 12 of'm - on my '01 4.7L. Absolutely sure about that man. Infact my lowering kit had the wrong hangers on it - they were for the 8 1/4 - I had to reorder mine for the 9 1/4.
There are plenty of 4.7's out there with the 9 1/4 rear end - not sure why mine has it - just a 2wd Sport+. I don't think it has the heavy duty towing option either. Lucky me.
