Subject: Question about Codes IP: Logged
Message: I posted a problem I was having awhile ago about my truck (97 Dak 318) having a bad idle when it was below freezing. It seems like a miss. Now I have to start my truck up at least a half hour before I leave my house for work and when I leave work. Runs great when it’s warmed up to normal temp.
Now I get two codes. The first is an 11 which is:
Intermittent loss of either camshaft or crankshaft position sensor. **
or
No crank reference signal detected during engine cranking.
or
Crankshaft position sensor target windows have too much variation. **
My codes come up on the odometer as follows….12, 11, 55. Then it flashes a code with the check engine light and it’s a 17. Which is:
"Engine does not reach 50 degrees F within 5 minutes with a vehicle speed signal. ** or
Engine does not reach operating temperature within acceptable limits"
Why doesn’t 17 come up on the odometer and is that my problem.
Thanks!!

Message: As a follow-up….
It was the crankshaft position sensor. I changed it yesterday and started it up this morning with the temp about 4 degrees and it started right up with no idle problems.
