Message: Look into some 4.56 gears and/or a fipk(K&N,homemade, etc). The gears will make your R/T pretty strong off the line, and will move your RPMs up 3-400 from your stock 3.92s. Something to think about if you drive the freeways often. Despite everyone telling me that the 4.56s will affect my gas mileage, there's no noticeable change. The gears also work nicely with other mods(except a blower, so if you plan on a supercharger you may not want the 4.56s...), and help keep your low-end. Approx. $250 +(install varies $200-$300 if you choose). The cold-air(fipk) was my first mod on my '99rc. It really allows a lot more air in and you'll feel it. Mine was $225 when I bought it(K&N), but you can make one for under $50 if you want.
IMO, that's a good way to start. Then you can decide whether or not to spend more$$ and start shopping for exhaust/headers,PCM this and that and before you know it you'll be in debt all because of your R/T and these damn forums!!! Just make sure of what you want BEFORE commiting to any options. Check out www.dakotart.com and maybe you'll see other R/Ts that are similar to what you're looking for. Good luck.
