Subject: Custom Mandrel Bent 4" intake for KB SC IP: Logged
Message: I have a 4.7 with the KB SC and I relocated the battery. I want to have someone custom bend a 4" pipe for the intake and then have it powder coated but I'm not sure exactly who would mandrel bend a 4" pipe. Anyone have an idea of who does this??

Message: THat is exactly what i want to do!!! That tube over the battery can't be that great flowing. Did you move the battery to the bed or just the other side of the engine bay???

Message: Try a diesel exhaust shop. 4" pipe is common for them.

Message: I moved the battery all the way to the bed. I just went to a stereo shop and got 2 16 foot 4awg wires with connectors, ran the wires from engine compartment to the rear. If you cut a small hole in the insulation behind the seat, there is a vent that you can pull the wires through, then once i pulled them through there, i ran them through the little square hole on the top front left side of the bed. I have the towing package so I had to move the battery, its so big that I couldnt even begin to fit that 4" intake through there. I will post some pics in a few days of the battery relocation and my intake when I find someone that will do it.

Message: well, i've been calling OKC exhaust shops all morning and I've pretty much just been laughed at every time I ask if anyone can mandrel bend a 4" inch pipe. If anyone one knows of anyone is the U.S. that can do this, please let me know. All I need is about a 2 foot pipe bend into an S shape.

Message: I put a red top optimizal in and the pipe will fit over it. I bet that exhuast shop you talked to could weld some pipe together. They probably cant bend it though. I think that's where I'm going to go to see if i can get one made up. I may try to move the battery to the other side of the engine bay instead of the bed. But if i can't to the bed it goes.

Message: I just picked up 3" dia. polished stainless steel pipe from a metal salvage yard. They have tons of 3" - 6" dia. thin wall aluminum and stainless pipe and tubes.
I would check there, and just have a muffler shop with a mandrel bender do the bending.
Get this. $9 for 3"dia. 3ft. of polished stainless tube. That is unheard of.
Check in your local phone book. I'm sure you can find something.

Message: My buddy works at a Peterbuilt shop/dealership. He says, every day they throw away 4"-6" chrome exhaust stacks. I'm sure if you found the right mechanic on his lunch and offered cash, you could get a piece of chrome stack to work with, he might even bend it for you. Just an idea.
