Subject: Cone vs. cylindrical K&N air filter?? IP: Logged
Message: I am in the process of making a homemade pvc pipe intake. I have come across a $10 cylindrical 8" length with 3" opening K&N filter. Would a cylindrical filter of this type have any drawbacks compared to a 9" cone k&n?

Message: the cone is made to fit into a small tapered area and the cylindrical is made to fit into a wide open space . No drawback to either one just wheather it fits and if you like the styling.

Message: As far as the air intake, did the same on mine gained about 1.5 mpg on the hiway and the seat -of-the-pants dyno says a small hp increase but maybe that is just ego.
