For those of you that have the 5.9s in your Dakotas, what kind of milage are you getting? I have a 2003 4x4 Quad Cab with the 5.9 and I only get about 12-14 with highway driving. Any ideas for improvement?

I have 900 miles on my new 5.9, 4x4, QC and have been doing all kinds of crazy things (nothing really hard on it though) to it to break it in and the MPG have been 16.02 (the most highway miles, maybe 150), 15.05 and 15.1. I only have one cat and 3.92 rear. From the type of driving I've done so far I would think I'd get at least 16/17 on a trip.

I have an 03 Quad cab with 5.9 and 3.92 gears. I now have about 2300 miles on it. Have not taken it on a trip yet, but I have been getting 14 mpg mostly city. The only mods I have done are k&n drop-in and flowmaster muffler with 3" cat back exhaust.

01 QC 4X4 5.9 w/3.55
14-15 normal town short driving
16-16.5 towing through mountains @ 70mph
18-19.5 highway, hoping for the magical 20
K&N drop in - think mileage loss
muffler - sounds better other than that no change
4 deg more timing or so - biggest overall change
no crank fan - good for 1-2 mph towing, not sure empty

I have a '98 Durango with a 360 and 4x4 w/3.92 rear. I keep my standard take off's from dead stops around 2000 RPM. Its kinda slow but i average about 15 mpg city and a few more highway.
