Message: this is really pissing me off.
i have a 2003 club cab RT, and when i stomp on it off the line it shifts into second around 4900, i have never seen it hit 5000. then shifts into third around 4000.
i read all these posts about people revving up to 5500-5600?????
WTF is wrong with my truck??

Message: The factory set shift points are roughly 4800-4900 RPM every truck varies slightly.
My 2003 R/T shifts consistently at those points for both the 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd shift.
Now if you want to go higher just manually shift it but keep in mind the rev limiter is set at 5300 rpms so throw the shifter around 5100-5200 so it shifts before hitting the limiter.
I hold the shift consistently at the track with no issues.

Message: Revving a stock 360 much past 4900 won't do you much good anyway. These motors have big time air flow problems. Can you say asthma attack? not to mention the valves float big time above 5200.

Message: I have been having problems setting my TV cable just right. Is there any way I can hold the throttle to the floor and get it back to where it's not hitting the rev limiter. I keep messing with it and right when I get it just right, it starts hitting the limiter. I tested it before I went to the track, it kept shifting right at 4800rpm. I then take it to the track and it's hitting the rev limiter again. Man I wish I could get this thing perfected.

Message: The other day I adjusted the TV cable so that when I stomp on it at 50, 55, 60, and 65mph it goes to second gear. Got it just right and it was shifting at 4800-4900rpm. I'm thinking I finally got this right where I want it and then I stomp on it at 25mph and it goes right up to 5200 rpms and hits the rev limiter. Man, this thing is a pain to perfect.

Message: Slow R/T Man guess your truck differs from every other R/T around.
I will agree they suffer in both air in and out but as for valve float thats crap as many guys at the track with the modified pcm run well up to 5600-5800 rpms with NO valve float what so ever.

Message: yes slow R/T man the valves on a STOCK 360 in an slt or sport do float after 5000rpm, but isnt the valvetran on an R/T different from a stock 360?...

Message: All 360s are the same, from a Van to a 4wd Ram to a Indy Pace Truck to a HD dump truck and even an R/T. Only difference in the R/T is the muffler.
In my truck, when I rev past 5200 the motor kind of lays down, stops pulling and makes a fluttering noise. I'm sure it will rev past 5200, as will any 360, but I can see the advantage of doing so as my times always suffer. the sweet spot in my engine is between 3500 and 4900. I plan on quite a few mods as soon as I take vacation.
