Subject: Warranty on HO cams? IP: Logged
Message: Does anyone know if you (or the dealership) installs the HO cams and intake if they will cover it in the factory warranty? I know if you have the dealership install a mopar accessory like a class III hitch, it will be covered by the remaining warranty of the truck. Any inputs would be great.

Message: That's what my dealer told me too. I installed the cams last week...a little disappointed. Can't tell any differnce. With K&N, Gibson and cams - truck doesn't seem to have the low-end grunt it had stock.

Message: Black 2003 - do you notice any difference after the cam install? Have you made any mods to your truck? Mine only has a drop in K&N filter - so it is pretty dead bone stock. Thanks again.

Message: Mike, could be the Gibson exhaust that is hurting you down low. I just have a Ravin 2.25 inch exiting before the rear tire, Intense Performance intake and the cams. I could definitely tell there was more grunt down low after the cams.
Oh yeah, stealership installed my cams as well (bastards charged me an additional $104 for new gaskets...I thought they were reusable on the 4.7...) and they didn't give me any hassle about the warrenty. Official Mopar parts installed by a licensed Chrysler tech. Can't go wrong with that.

Message: The Dude - which intake from Intense Performance do you have? And I'll watch out for the gaskets at the dealer.

Message: Dude - stealers got you , the gaskets are reusable. I'll bet you're right about the Gibson; I noticed a nice gain from the HO cams with K&N drop in, ported 68mm TB and stock exhaust.

Message: WOOT - These parts are replacement parts, not performance parts, right? If it was a performance part wouldn't it have a 'P' in front of the part nuber? Just asking, I want to make sure I got the right answer.

Message: DakSwinger, I have the Z-tube on my 4.7.
And as for the cams go, I wouldn't worry about your warranty too much. I mean, these cams are STOCK parts on some Jeeps, so right there you know they aren't going to be too radical, but just enough to give a little more umph.

Message: I had no other mods done to my truck when i had the cams and intake install done. Yes i did notice a difference in power. From 2000 RPM and above it really woke up my truck. When it down shifts into second now to pass someone going about 50 it plls real hard. The truck no longer drops out of OD on the highway when i try to accelerate a bit. i have 3.55's and 31" plus 4x4. It took about 200 miles to start to notice my performance gains.

Message: I just received an email from the local dealership stating that the cam and intake swap would void my warranty. Where/What dealership did yours? Do I just need to find a different dealership to do the install? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Message: i first went to the dealership where i first bought my truck and they said that they do not do performance work. I then went to another dealership that was close to me and they said "sure we have done the swap a few other times before." Brought it in the next day and have been happier ever since. Just check a few other local dealers. You should be able to find one.

Message: i put the r/t cam in my truck. MOPAR PERF. HAS NO WARRENTY. My first cam "cammed" out because of misinstallation and the cam itself cracked.
My friend at the delership tried to return it as if it were cracked on arrival from the factory and mopar won't even refund for a dealership claiming it was cracked apon their installation.
Don't listen if the service desk or parts desk tells you that there is warrenty because they are not the ones honouring the warrenty it is through mopar itself.
NOBODY EVER WARRENTIES PERFORMANCE WORK, and put an ho cam into a non ho motor is exactly that . I'm not saying don't do it i think you should do it. Warrenties don't fix parts, they sell parts. thats why they are called "the idiot's sales pitch"
