Subject: Removin' the exhaust? IP: Logged
Message: What do you all think about just takin' the stock cat-back system off, and replacin it with a straight pipe (2.5" mandrel bent) back to the stock exit point? Will I loose any power? Will it be too loud? (meaning "will the cops pull me over?") I'm workin' on a budget here, and I figured not having to buy another muffler would be an easy way to save some green...

Message: Not sure about loss of power, but I would think you may loss some at least in the low end. If you want cheap, go with a glasspack bout 20 bucks, or 40 -50 bucks for a Dynomax muffler 17748. Just my 2 and half cents.

Message: I noticed no low end loss when I was running straight pipe behind the cat. I've had about 6 or 7 different exhaust set ups so far on my 4.7. I had my 3rd cat gutted and straights behind that! I noticed a little bit of loss, but it wasn't enough to make it really obvious.
