Message: i have driven one on the road and another at the track. it is a great truck, but with the v10 w/ 500 horses i expected it to run faster then a 13.79 at the track. (chrysler proving grounds-pontiac) . the 4 banger srt4 neon ran a 13.95 the same day. also the shift throws are long, but it is a full size truck. the thing i liked the most was the handling, it was alot better then my 01 ss camaro.

Message: For all of you dodge guys who are getting excited about 500hp srt-10, the 2005 ford lightening will have 500hp with a six speed manual transmission. So what do yall think about that. Ford uses a v8 and dodge has to use a v10 to keep up with it.

Message: anybody can make 500 horsepower with forced induction, hell, hondas are making that much with their turbos, so does that make them able to say ford sucks because they need 8 cylinders to make what their 4s make? dont try that stuff here ford guy, chrysler has already proven what a small supercharger will do on the hemi, with the magnum srt-8, it was 430 hp and 480 lb-ft, with hardly any boost

Message: I would like to know from what reliable source you heard they were going to make that 500 hp lightning. The amount of money they had to put in that motor to get that power will either keep them from producing it or make it cost so much you cant afford it. Even then it only has as much power as a normally aspirated V-10.

Message: With the manley forged rods the 03 Cobra can run 22 lbs of boost safely, throw 22 lbs of boost on a L motor with manley rod and see what you get. As it stand the Gen 2 L's can take 14 lbs of boost with the stock internals and handle 450 RWHP with is not a hard thing to get. Will see what happens, but hopefully chrysler and Ford will keep reasonable prices. I know the SRT-10 will have a single TB and airbox, which will help some.

Message: The '05 Lightning will be fearsome "IF" they can keep the top end together past 5000 RPM. I've had the unpleasant experience of seeing two of them virtually explode under their stress tests due to spring/valve float and gasket problems. Well, I should say I saw the engines explode (no truck body present)...they were being run on an engine dyno.

Message: gimme a break. First of all, it won't take 22 psi to get 500 HP from a 5.4 liter. Afterall, these turbo 2.0's are putting 280-300HP, why do you think it's impossible? My Vette has only 8 psi and boasts between 460 and 480HP.
BTW: in Dodge's defense, a Ford "source" claims the reason it gets 500 HP is because it uses a reservoir or something to hold a charge of a/c'd air that gives it that much power, but only for 2 or 3 seconds. Otherwise, 450HP is what it puts out. I may be wrong, but that's a Ford "source" for ya.
