Subject: Best mods for the $ IP: Logged
Message: I have a 99'R/T RC with nothing but a new air intake, Hypertech PCM, and Flowmaster 40 dual out muffler. For $1000, what are the most effective mods I can make to this truck to make it faster? I have many thoughts already, but I would really like input from others who probably know more than I do.

Message: Roller rockers and an M1 would be my answer. Or a nitrous kit.
You'd probably see double the hp with the nitrous..but you have to fill it all the time. PITA!

Message: 4.56 gears would be your best overall performance gainer for all the time performance. Not too streetable in terms of gas milage though. Other than that I would say TB, m1, and a cam would be your best bet. Might be alittle over a grand though :)

Message: Get rid of engine driven fan. Put electric fan on and build a shroud for it. I picked up .2 in the quarter and got better gas mileage.

Message:
1.)The Mopar M1 or one of the the modified intakes from Hughes Engines. This is the most restricted item on the engine 2.)A proper 4 into 1 header or JBA shorties.Do not use the Tri-y's.They never worked and never will.
You can put the largest TB on the planet on there and it won't make any difference until you remove the bottleneck the stock Int Manifold creates.

Message: Hey Ryan, the 4.56s are very streetable. 'Specially for the R/Ts. Makes street driving way more fun. I have a 4.7 with 4.56s and I havn't noticed any decrease in city gas mileage.
The highway is a different story. 90 MPH I am running 3600 RPM. Ouch. But I can pass people in 5th gear without any problems. Feels like 4th gear, haha. Should be better on an R/T though.

Message: Bolt ons are really not going to get you a lot. You've already got intake, PCM program, and muffler, why don't you look for some non-performance upgrades. If you drop that $1000 into headers, TB, etc. I really doubt in the end you will come off feeling like you just spent $1000 in performance. Lower your truck slightly(very easy), clear corner lenses, hi powered headlights, bedliner or cover, grille, tint, stereo, upgrade your emblems, roll pan bumper. For $1000 you could really trick a few things out and I think you would be much happier with the overall effect than spending $1000 for max 50 HP which you really are not going to feel too much.
