Subject: Ran an Acura CL Type S IP: Logged
Message: I have an 03 R/T and I ran a friend of mine the the Acura. He is stock and I am stock except for an Intense Performance intake. Anybody know how fast these things are supposed to be. I ran him twice. We both spun out of the hole, when I hooked I pulled ahead about 3 cars and kept it until 80. We both let off at that point. Same thing the second time. Well at least I get to chalk one more off for America.

Message: From what I have read they are capable of high 14 to low 15 quarters. 0-60 is around 6.8. Great kill! I raced a 2002 or so grand am gt with the ram air package and smoked him hard I thought it would have been a little closer than it was.Still felt good though!

Message: Zach,
That is what I though too. We both hooked at the same time though. My truck pulled a 15.2 bone stock with only 1100miles on it. I know the filter isn't giving me 4 tenths. But should and did are two different things.

Message: I know for a fact these things can be killers (I own an '03 Maxima, which is in direct competition in 1/4 speed). They run mid 14's stock (a bad driver will get 15.1's-15.2's). Once the VTEC system kicks in, it's all over. I'm assuming that you're talking about the 4 door auto Type-S?

Message: Then you're looking at 14.3-14.1 in the 1/4 stock. They are pretty stout runners, sufice to say. They can run with 99+ Mustang GT's most of the time (stock for stock).

Hmmm, saw a 2001 GT 5-speed at the track running low 15s(15.1 was the best I remember). Doesn't sound like the GT will hang.

Message: Demon Dakota,
I can't see his being that fast. My friend owns the car. It's an auto. How hard is it to point it in a straight line and floor it. Yeah he spun but so did I. I've been in his car and no way is it turning low 14's. If the auto is turning low 14's than the CL 6 speed would be in the 13's. I really don't see that being possible.

Message: DeepDak,
I've personally run 13.82 in a dead stock '00 GT 5 speed. Typical drivers run 14.1's-14.2's (if you run 15's in a 99+ GT you're either a sh!tty driver or at high altitude).
Mithrac,
Being an auto doesn't matter in those cars. Tell him to shift right before fuel cutoff (manually shift his car, if it isn't already a shiftable auto) and he'll smoke the ever living dog piss out of most R/T's and modded 4.7L's...

Message: Yeah, and my '03 Maxima is "supposed" to run 15.2 at 91 mph, but it runs 14.6 at 94 mph. Magazine racers really suck goat balls...they have absolutely no skills. Very few of them actually push the cars to their limits. trust me when I say that the CL-S and TL-S are very quick cars (faster than most 4.7L 5 speeds stock). They do run in the mid 14's with a good driver. The car is capable.

Message: Demon,
Probably a bad driver but I toasted him by 1.499 seconds (slower time plus sleeping at the light). :)
Well, my buddy is a huge mustang fan and has owned 6 since he started driving. Him and I test drove an 2001 5 speed and he was extremely disappointed! He's most recent '86 stang turned mid-high 13s naturally aspirated. According to him, the newer stang was a dog in comparison and he'd be surprised if it could get out of the 15sec bracket. Because he couldn't pay that much for a newer car with no b@lls, he purchased an older less expensive '95 with the extra cash going to a new race motor. Oh, before someone says he can't drive, he is one of the best drivers I personally know. If anyone can get a car or truck to perform and run great times it's him!
