Subject: Dyno results after S/C IP: Logged
Message: I dynoed my truck after my Kenne Bell install. Stock (had airraid intake and jet stage 2 chip) was 272 torque and 192 horse. After the Kenne bell was 317 and 264!!!! The only crappy thing is that the governor did not let me run top gear past 4200 rpm....or 96mph.
This torgue curve was perfectly flat!!!! I mean FLAT!!! And the horse power just kept on climbing, never hit the drop off point. I have an automatic so I have to run in top gear and punch it when it won't kick back down a gear. That kinda sucked!!!!! I could only get numbers from a about 3000rpm to 4200 rpm. Very cool experience.
Time to go lightning hunting!!!! I think I've raced a few guys but hard to tell.... I get ahead of em and never look back. A freind has a WRX and we're gunna line up.... i don't think he has a chance but we'll see!!!!

I'm curious to compare the lines on the graphs.
There's more to it than meets the eye, Eric. There was a guy with headers, TB, and injectors on DakotaUSA with the Kenne Bell in a club cab 5-spd, and he ran a 13.9 on street tires. Mine is basically stock, but I don't think that the above mentioned mods on mine would make too much difference, so I think they are pushing about the same power.
Here's my take. The Kenne Bell's flat torque line and HP curve go hand-in-hand better(or more efficiently) than the NOVI from Paxton. I might be making more HP and torque, but it's more PEAKY than a good linear curve.
Not saying that the Paxton isn't good, we're just looking at different boost curves and levels of efficiency.

Message: That's why i went with the kenne bell. THe others may give more peek but the kennebell is more consistant through the curve.
I'll work on getting my sheet scanned, i don't have one but a freind does. I have the 8 pound pulley. ANd yes it's the 4.7.

when getting your dyno done you dont want it in top gear... that will give incorrect numbers. You want whatever gear it takes to get a 1:1 ratio.. usually 3rd gear in 4 speed autos and 4th gear in 5 speed manuals.
or at least thats what i have been told when getting dynos done on a chasis dyno

Message: By saying top gear I mean 3rd with o/d off. And as for the peak horses, The horsepower line did not top out. It was still climbing and i had about another 1300 rpm's or so before the rev limiter(5500rpm). I guess i would have picked up about another 15-20 horses maybe. I just got to get that damn governor OFF!!!!!!!!

Message: I can see you getting another 15-20RWHP if the revs could go higher, but it should peak out at around 5,250. I understand you are running the auto tranny too, which will put out slightly lower numbers than the 5-spd. For 8psi though, I would expect more. I know it feels good though.
I would be concerned with reliability issues too, unless you have taken measures to prevent pre-detonation. There have been a couple of horror stories coming from the Kenne Bell guys going with the 8lb pulley without upgrading the fuel system over the stock set-up with the auxillaries.
I plan to up the boost on the Paxton when I get my fuel on the fat side. My injectors should be here any day now. I'm thinking 9psi with PLENTY of fuel. I may also step up my auxillary sizes.
I'm doing True Duals next week, which should lean things out a tad, but hopefully the larger injectors going in will compensate for the difference, and leave me enough fuel to play around with more boost.
I ran 14.010 @ 99mph with the stock Paxton kit and a big daddy flowmaster muffler on street tires. I have MT ET Streets now, and need to get back out to the track to bust off some 13's. They say the Paxton's and Vortech's don't have any low-end??? How about a 2.5 60ft time? All the thing would do was fry the tires.( I would hate to try to launch a KB) The best 60 time on street tires was a 2.10(14.010@99) leaving the line at idle, and slipping the clutch. The 2.5 run the mph in the traps was 101, but the ET was a 14.20.
It pissed me off soooo bad that I couldn't get the thing in the 13's, and I was sooo close. The mph was there, but my driving skills weren't. With traction and a new game plan, I hope to see some 13.80's before making any changes.
Good luck with your charger RAZOR, and have a ball. Keep me in mind, when you get the pics of the sheet, and post up some 1/4 times as soon as you get them.

I hope to get to the track soo0n as well. I'm hoping for 13's but i don't know. I can actually get off a pretty good launch right now (I have snow tires on). But the 18's are going on soon and i'm sure they won't help my launch, but they look damn sweet!!!! Speed isn't everything.... ahahahahaha

With my 4.7, 5spd, 3.55 LSd, and the stock tire and handling 16's, 3rd gear is 1 to 1 with the speedo.
.alex., what gear do you dyno in?

Message: 1:1 is the transmission ratio that you need to be in..... on the 4-spd auto's that means 3rd gear. On the multi-speed auto's (5 gears) I think it's still 3rd gear. Basically turn the o/d button off so that it won't shift into 4th.
On my 5-spd manual truck, I am in 4th gear when I dyno.

Not doubting the guy but anyone who knows enough to blow a 4.7 should have heard about keying by now.
Maybe Im just missing something, having no experience on a dyno.

Message: Yeah Man....
Couldn't tell too much by the dyno sheets though...There's only a window of a little over 1000rpm that you can see the graph. Speed Limiter is a bitch on those autos.
I see you could have easily picked up another 20Hp's though. I like the Flatness of the torque curve as well.
Do you want me to post the pic up here.
I'll shoot you an e-mail back in a few. I'm fixing to go outside, and put my injectors in.
I can post numbers side by side for comparison sake as well if you'd like.
Thanks for shooting it over. See if you can get a 100rpm breakdown on your best pass with HP and Torque. He should be able to fax it to you, or e-mail it to you from the dyno facility.

The autos do suck for dynos. I was wondering if i could do a pull in second???? Ah well.... the thing hauls ass anyway...... What will reallly piss me off is when i hit it in the quarter!!!!!!!

Keep in mind, I could only compare what was in RaZor's dyno. I can't see what his numbers below 3250rpm look like, and we can't see anything above 4400rpm on the top end. We know he would have kept pulling more before tapering off.
I would really like to see his numbers around 2,200rpm.
Good job Man, keep us posted on those 1/4 times.
