Subject: Air Box Mod IP: Logged
Message: Have a 2003 4.7 4X4 with Gibson and K & N inbox filter. Air box inlet looked awful small....so I tried and old dirt bike trick and drilled three 1.5 inch holes in the fender side (cold side) of the air box. Nice sound when you get on it...but, from the forums (your) past experience, did I hurt/screw anything up -- did I have more actual HP with original snorkle? Gas mileage has increased with filter and holes about 1 - 1.5 mpg.

Message: You probably helped things out! As long as water and anything kicked up by the tires does not get in, You should be good to go.

Message: I am not familliar with this set-up. I am assuming that you opened up the inlet before the air filter right?

Message: Just took a drill with a hole saw attach and drilled 3 1 1/4 inch holes in the lower airbox on the cold air side (not on the bottom). Seems to work
