 Subject: will engine light come on w/o catalytic?

I have a 98 dakota 4x4 with the 5.2 and bought a flowmaster cat back system for it. i was thinkin about takin the catalytic converter off to enhance power somewhat while i was doing the install. I noticed however that there is a censor right after the cat. but before the muffler. can i take the cat off and leave the censor. I just don't wanna deal with the engine light staying on, so what do you think i should do? all opinions are much appreciated. Thanks a lot, Nick

if you cut the cat out of the system, the check engine light will come on. the only thing you can do is build a simulator or buy one.
