Message: What a disappointment! First of all, the 0-70 performance wasn't impressive at all! Unless your willing to drop the clutch at 4-5k, which I didn't do, because that's something I wasn't willing to do if I did own the car. Second anything under 3k it was a dog and there wasn't much surge when It did spool up. I have more on/off power surge when my 5.9L hit 4k! Third due to lack in purge acceleration I looked for any refinements, none where there! Short throw shifter was notchy and unpleasant to hold, lump of steel! The solid lifters made for a loud tapping noise from the outside of the car while idle was nothing to be desired with a ruff idle even being a Porsche H4 design. The engine huffed when the a/c was turned on and a noticeable drag on the engine could be felt. The interior sound proofing was non existent while the suspension creaked once during takeoff. The bug eye headlights I could shrug off if the bang for the buck was present, which I did not find. The boost gauge was a joke, who would dare to watch the boost gauge while trying to drive. HA you'll end up doing this!http://www.llamaparty.com/stuff/mr2crash.mpg

Message: Unfortunatly due to the extreme emissions laws the wrx power was killed. I was very dissapointed when they claimed they had 227hp whooptie bloody doo (note sarcazam). Back home in O.Z the scoobie doos have a lot more pep to them can't remember the figures but i beleive it's upwards of the 270 hp mark. Anyway the sti's are much of an improvement. I just can't figure out why america pises on all the goodies from japan, just like the new mitsubishi evo. They took out the active yaw control and the helacial front, electronic center and rear differentials. These are some serious attributes that helped make the car. Oh well I don't want one of those anymore anyway I'm just in love with my dak.

Message: 2004 WRX is in my Town now, I saw one today..the youngster pulled up next to me, and it looked great, had a really tall rear wing, new front European headlamps, new style wheels, I really love that blue color from Subaru, I drove the 2003 and it was ok.. Now that the 04 is out I will take that one for a test drive myself..

Message: I owned the dak in my picture and compared
to my WRX. the dakota was on the losing end.
0-60 times on the WRX are 5.6....now 0.1
second slower than an S4 is pretty f*ckin
impressive...this b*tch hauls ass, especially
compared to my dakota. solid as a rock.
smooth, quiet and quick. I'll be pushin
300whp in a few weeks, so hopefully I could
give the STI a run for its money, plus I couldnt
suffice throwing $30,000 at a new car.
creaking suspension?
huffin motor?
rough idle?
looks like you test drove a lemon.

Just wanted to share as a Dak enthusiest...I jumped my Dak for the first (and second) time a couple of days ago, and It was the greatest rush! Any suggestions on some suspension mods that wont break the bank? I still want to be able to tow, but I'm wanting some more offroad durability...probably going with some 33 inch tires.
Rock out,

And, if you modify a dakota, especially a stick, then welcome to upside-downville!
And yeah, Stratus, especially the 4-door, is a POS. And the Intrepid.... POS.
Dodge should stick to trucks and performance cars!

Message: Hey!
Lay off the neon! hehehe Actually, I'm considering buying one as a daily driver (I commute quite a bit). I'm sort of getting tried of paying so much for gas. Don't get me wrong, I'm keeping my truck, just need something with better gas milage that can kick a little butt.
This will also give me an extra vehicle so I can rebuild the truck without worrying about having it back together before the next morning. I'm sure some of you can relate to this!
Well, if I go with a used vehicle, I'll probably check out the WRX & RSX. Price and mpg will be the deciding factor.

Message: Demon,
I'm talking used, so the 2k doesn't apply. Either car can be cheaper depending on quite a few variables.
In the "Perfect World" I'd find both cars used with the same numbers (miles, options, condition, etc), so the 2K might apply. The "Perfect World" never works out for me! ;)
Yes, the RSX is overpriced and slightly heavier than it should be, but its interior sytling is much nicer than the Subaru. IMO

and is FWD not AWD...you can find plenty of
used WRX's with lots of hop up parts (300+

why not just get a old (like 95ish) civic? they run forever, and you can get one cheap. my freind just sold his with 46k on the odometer for $3500
Hoss, dont worry about the upside down thing much unless you are planning on getting rid of it soon.
