Subject: Fastman throttle bodies IP: Logged
Message: I was wondering if anyone uses or heard of Fastman
throttle bodies (formerly of Quick D). They're half of the
price of most of the other brands I've seen. Are they
good quality, because it seems like a damn good deal.
Give me some input.

Message: I ran one for almost three years befoe I got a F&B. I loved it, and it worked great. For the price, it can't be beat, but for best performance, the F&B wins hands down. If you don't plan on any heavy mods, and want to keep the pocket book from turning inside out, the Fastman is a great product.

on thing with the F&B is, you get to keep your stock TB. so if you ever decide to sell the truck or go back to stock, you can sell the F&B, and get most of your money back.

Message: I'm currently running a Fastman 68mm TB. I have had no problems with it since I got it and feel it was an excellent decision especially for the money. I don't plan on heavily modding out my truck so the 68mm is plenty of air for me. Now if someone decided to give a me paxton for Christmas...things could change.

I dont see how ported and polished TBs (of the same size bore) can be better than one another.
sry dumb question.

Message: A hole is a hole. They all flow air. The F&B is shinier and the Fastman looks stock for the most part.
It pretty much comes down to how much you want to spend. I didn't want to spend $400 for a TB so I spent $200.
Don't let anyone tell you that your truck will have downtime if you go with the Fastman. Call Dan Arcand (his number is on the site). You will talk to him directly. Tell him the size TB you want...he sends it to you in about 3-5 days. I think I got mine in 3 or 4 days. When you take off your old TB to replace it with the Fastman just put it (the old TB) in the box the new one came in and send it to Dan. It's that easy.
So it just comes down to money.

Message: This shinney vs. not thing.
I've ported my own 68mm TB.
But, the total surface area of the air going thru the 'hole' is very little on the surface. Shiney poliched, looks great, but isn't going to flow any better overall than a slightly 'rough' one. I'ts not a 'solid' trying to slide thru there, it's a fluid (air).
In fact, I sail boats (catamarans), and the laminer flow over the hull of boat is actually disrupted some when it's too smooth, disrupting the 'boundary' layer of fluid over it.
You mechanical engineers and aeronautical engineers help me out here.
Bigger 'hole' is good to a point, but as long as the surface it relatively smooth, a good boundary layer will result in good air flow thru the 'hole'. Polished ad nauseum is not any better, than just smooth, and many studies have shown with the flow of fluids(air, it's a fluid too you know), that it may hurt.
Just my .02, flame suit on!

Message: The F&B does flow more and it is made with better parts. It's purpose built to flow more and provide better performance. Fastman is good, but it's still just modifying something that wasn't that good to begin with. Here's a good link if you want a comparison.

Message: In comparing the 52mm TBs (fastman & F&B) from that site (above 2 posts) I`d take the fastman all the way. $250 vs $490. F&B made what , 4 HP more - which coulda been a change in air temp. , engine temp , operator , anything.
Like TexasTodd said .... Its air going through a hole.
Sorry I cant see paying 240 bux more for 4HP. 4HP aint squat. You`d never feel it.
F&B is a beautiful piece. I`m not here to flame or push sales for Dan.
Just giving my opinion. Like we all do here.

Message: If you look at that test, the 50mm F&B makes more power than the 52mm Fastman. If you went with a 52mm F&B, the difference would be even more dramatic.

Still I dont like cost/HP of F&B.
And shouldnt they flow test it instead of dyno test ? Too many things can affect HP output.
